A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF ROLLING HILLS SUPPORTING SENATE BILL NO.
2798 EXEMPTING LOS ANGELES COUNTY FROM 'THE
DUTY TO PREPARE AIRPORT LAND USE PLANS.
WHEREAS, existing state law requires counties to
establish Airport Land Use Commissions to establish land use plans
for areas within two miles of airports; and
WHEREAS, the intent of existing state laws is to address
areas around public airports to the extent that these areas are not
already devoted to incompatible uses; and
WHEREAS, land areas around 11 of the 15 airports within
Los Angeles County are already significantly developed; and
WHEREAS, land use plans and issues should remain, as much
as possible, within the control of the local governmental
jurisdiction; and
WHEREAS, Senator Robert Beverly has introduced Senate
Bill No. 2798 which would exempt Los Angeles County from the duty
to prepare airport land use plans; and
WHEREAS, Senate Bill No. 2798 is pending consideration
by Governor George Deukmejian.
NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved by the City Council of the
City of Rolling Hills as follows:
SECTION 1. Members of the City Council of the City of
Rolling Hills do hereby support Senate Bill No. 2798 .and urge
Governor George Deukmejian to sign this legislation into law.
SECTION 2. The Mayor is hereby authorized to sign this
Resolution signifying its adoption and the City Clerk or duly
authorized Deputy is directed to attest thereto.
SECTION 3. The City Clerk or duly authorized Deputy is
directed to transmit copies of this Resolution to Governor George
Deukmejian, Senator Robert Beverly, Assemblyman Gerald Felando and
the League of California Cities.
