RESOLUTION NO. 767
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
ROLLING HILLS, CALIFORNIA RATIFYING AND
CONFIRMING EXECUTION OF AN AGREEMENT BETWEEN
BROWNING -FERRIS INDUSTRIES, INC., A CALIFORNIA
CORPORATION AND THE CITY OF ROLLING HILLS,
CALIFORNIA, FOR SOLID WASTE AND RECYCLING
COLLECTION, TRANSPORTATION, PROCESSING AND
DISPOSAL SERVICES IN THE CITY OF ROLLING HILLS, FOR
THE PERIOD COMMENCING JULY 1, 1995 AND ENDING ON
JUNE 30, 2000.
WHEREAS, the City of Rolling Hills entered into a Franchise Agreement
with Browning-Ferris Industries, Inc., on August 8, 1988 for the collection and disposing of
rubbish, trash, garbage, and other debris in the City of Rolling Hills; and
WHEREAS, this Agreement expired on June 30, 1993; and
WHEREAS, Browning-Ferris Industries, Inc., has expressed a desire to
continue to serve the City of Rolling Hills by providing refuse collection services; and
WHEREAS, the City of Rolling Hills City Council Solid Waste Refuse
Collection and Recycling Subcommittee has met and negotiated with Browning-Ferris
Industries, Inc., the attached Agreement; and
WHEREAS, the attached Agreement complies with the Municipal Code and
implementation will satisfy the refuse collection needs of the community, and will
provide a new program for backyard collection of recyclables and green waste at individual
homes; and
WHEREAS, members of the Rolling Hills Solid Waste Refuse Collection and
Recycling Subcommittee are recommending adoption of this Agreement by the City
Council.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY MEMBERS OF THE ROLLING
HILLS CITY COUNCIL AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. The Agreement attached to this Resolution as Exhibit 1 is hereby
adopted and approved by the City Council of the City of Rolling Hills.
Section 2. The Mayor is hereby directed to sign this Resolution, and the
City Clerk, or duly authorized Deputy is directed to attest thereto.
Section 3. The Mayor is hereby directed to affix his signature to the attached
Agreement (Exhibit 1) entitled "Agreement for Solid Waste and Recycling Collection,
Transportation, Processing and Disposal Services between the City of Rolling Hills,
California and Browning-Ferris Industries of California, Inc." and the City Clerk is directed
to attest thereto.
Section 4. The City Clerk shall forward certified copies of this Resolution to
Browning-Ferris Industries of California, Inc.
