07741 1 RESOLUTION NO. 774: A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ROLLING HILLS AUTHORIZING ENFORCEMENT OF THE CALIFORNIA VEHICLE CODE ON PALOS VERDES PENINSULA UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT PROPERTY PURSUANT TO SECTION 21107.7 (a) OF THE CALIFORNIA VEHICLE CODE. WHEREAS, California Vehicle Code Section 21107.7, Paragraph (a) authorizes municipalities to adopt Resolutions that direct the enforcement of the California Vehicle Code on privately owned roadways within their jurisdictions; and WHEREAS, the Palos Verdes Peninsula Unified School District has requested the enforcement of the California Vehicle Code on its private roadway that accesses the School District Maintenance Facility and Rancho Del Mar High School; and WHEREAS, the City Council desires to assist the School District in enforcing traffic safety laws on that private roadway. NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ROLLING HILLS RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. The City Council finds and declares that the roadway that accesses the School District Maintenance Facility and Rancho Del Mar High School in the City of Rolling Hills is privately owned and maintained by the Palos Verdes Unified School District and is not generally held open for use by the public for vehicular travel. Section 2. The City Council further finds that by its proximity to or connection with highways, the residents of Rolling Hills and the motoring public will best be served by the application of the provisions of the California Vehicle Code to such road accessing the School District Maintenance Facility and the Rancho Del Mar High School. Section 3. This Resolution shall not be effective until appropriate signs are erected at the entrance to such road, such signs to be legible during daylight hours from a distance of 100 feet, to the effect that such road is subject to the provisions of the California Vehicle Code. Section 4. Resolution No. 774 is hereby adopted by members of the Rolling Hills City Council. Section 5. The Mayor is directed to affix his signature to Resolution No. 774 and the City Clerk is directed to attest thereto. Section 6. The City Clerk, or duly authorized deputy, shall transmit a copy of this Resolution to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, the Palos Verdes Unified School District and Rancho Del Mar High School.
