09221 1 1 RESOLUTION NO. 922 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ROLLING HILLS APPROVING THE APPLICATION FOR BICYCLE AND/OR PEDESTRIAN FUNDS UNDER SB 821. . WHEREAS, SB 821 provides that 2% of each County's total local Transportation Fund be annually set aside and used to fund the development of bicycle and pedestrian facilities; and WHEREAS, the City of Rolling Hills comprises .02% of the population of Los Angeles County, therefore, the City has been apportioned $3,411.00 for Fiscal Years 1998/99 through 2001/02 from the local fund; and WHEREAS, at this time the City wishes to allocate the entire TDA Article 3 Fund balance for these four Fiscal Years to another municipality to be utilized for an eligible use. NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Rolling Hills does hereby resolve as follows: Section 1. That the FY 1998-97 funding of $723.00, the FY 1999-00 funding of $840.00, the FY 2000-01 funding of $880.00 and the FY 2001-02 funding of $968.00 allocated by the County of Los Angeles to the City of Rolling Hills for bicycle and pedestrian facilities is requested to be allocated to the City of Rolling Hills Estates for the project(s) described in the attached correspondence marked Exhibit "A". Section 2. That the City has completed the necessary documentation for the Los Angeles Metropolitan Transportation Authority to allocate these funds to the City of Rolling Hills Estates for an appropriate eligible program in that City. The City of Rolling Hills Estates is currently planning the Deep Valley Drive Streetscape Project which will attempt to foster a pedestrian friendly environment on a portion of Deep Valley Drive with the addition of landscaping, improved pedestrian facilities, decorative lighting, street furniture and traffic calming devices. We believe the proposed Deep Valley Drive pedestrian improvements that include new sidewalks with decorative brick features, including wheelchair ramps at each intersection, would be an appropriate and ideal use for these funds.
