RESOLUTION NO. 955
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ROLLING HILLS,
CALIFORNIA, SUPPORTING THE POSITION OF THE LEAGUE OF
CALIFORNIA CITIES RELATIVE TO LOCAL GOVERNMENT FINANCING.
WHEREAS, the League of California Cities proposed an initiative (Constitutional
Amendment) entitled the "Local Taxpayer and Public Safety Protection Act" designed to
guarantee future revenue sources traditionally allocated to local governments; and,
WHEREAS, the "Local Taxpayer and Public Safety Act" has qualified for the November,
2004 Ballot; and,
WHEREAS, the League of California Cities has also negotiated a proposed legislative
Constitutional Amendment with the Governor's Office that, if approved by the Legislature to
be included on the November Ballot and approved by the voters of the State of California, will
provide further protection of traditional local government revenue sources; and
WHEREAS, guarantees of local government revenue sources serve to assure that quality
municipal government services will continue to be provided at the local level in the State of
California.
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Rolling Hills does hereby resolve as
follows:
Section 1. Members of the City Council hereby support the position of the League of
California Cities relative to the measure(s) that will appear on the. November, 2004 Ballot
designed to guarantee and protect local government revenues.
Section 2. The City Clerk shall hereby send a copy of this Resolution to the League of
California Cities and the California Contract Cities Association.
