A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
ROLLING HILLS AUTHO�RIZING MEMBERSHIP IN THE
INTERNATIONAL COUNCIL FOR LUCAL ENVIRONMENTAL
INITIATIVE (ICLEI).
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ROLLING HILLS DOES HEREBY RESOLVE AS
FOLLOWS:
WHEREAS, carbon dioxide (COZ) and other greenhouse gases released into the atmosphere have
been identified as having an effect on the earth's climate; and
WHEREAS, the South Bay Cities Council of Governments (SBCCOG) and its Environmental
Services Center and Green Cities Task Force, in strong support of efforts to reduce human influences on
climate change and conserve ener�y, is urging 100% of its member cities to join the International
Council for Local Environrnental Initiatives (ICLEI); and
WHEREAS, Rolling ,Hills supports the SBCCOG's and ICLEI's commitment to environmental
sustainability, energy conservation, and reducing carbon emissions; and
WHEREAS, AB 32, known as the Global Warming Solutions Act of 2006, passed by the
California State Legislature implemented a requirement to reduce greenhouse gas emissions statewide
by 2020 to 19901evels, with further reductions expected by 2050; and
WHEREAS; actions taken by the SBCCOG and cities through membership in ICLEI can reduce
greenhouse gas emissions, increase energy efficiency and provide benefits to cities and communities.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCI�. OF THE CITY OF ROLLING
HILLS:
Section 1. The City Council authorizes the City to submit an application for membership in
International Council for Local Environmental Initiatives (ICLEI).
Section 2. The City of Rolling Hills establishes its' commitment to sustaining the natural
environment, supportinb energy efficiency and alternative power, and the reductian of greenhouse gas
emissions.
