12/12/1966MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE __CITY'COUNCIL THE CITY OF ROLLING,HILLS, -CALIFORNIA December 12, 1966 A regular meeting of. the City Council of the City of Rolling Hills was -called to order by Mayor Vernon M. -Fay at 7:30 P.M.- on Monday, December 12, 1.966 in the City Hall, 1 Portuguese Bend -Road, Rolling Hills, California. Others Present:-, APPROVAL OF MINUTES ayor ay Councilman Hesse Teena Clifton City Manager William Kinley City Attorney It was moved by Councilman Klein, seconded by Councilman.Tourtelot and unanimously carried.that the minutes of November 28, 1966 be approved as -corrected. CORRESPONDENCE A letter to the Mayor from Local 1014, Los Angeles County Fire. Fighters, thanking him for his support of their health insurance plan was presented. It was ordered received and filed. A letter from Kenneth Hahn, Board of Supervisorsre: Operating iteria of County Parks and Playgrounds was ordered received and filed. A letter from Jack O'Hara, Mayor of Rolling Hills Estates and a Minute Resolution,'requesting.the Board of Supervisors to conduct an economic study of the ent.ire,Peninsula was presented by the City Manager. Mayor Fay moved that the.;,inatter be held on the agenda A letter from the Board of Supervisors dated December 7;19'66 opposing an additional gasoline tax of 2 cents a gallon was ordered received and filed. REPORTS OF CITY DEPARTMENTS' Pound Department The contract for Pound Services between the City of Rolling Hills and the County of Los Angeles will expire in 1967. Renewal of the contract by December 31, 1966 was approved. Sheriff's Department The Sheriff's Report for the month of October 1966 was,.ordered received and filed. County Regional Planning Commission An increase of 11 persons in -the population'of'Rolling Hills ring the third quarter of 1966 was noted in the Quarterly Bulletin of pulation and Dwelling -Units published by the Regional Planning Commission of the County .of Los Angeles. AYES': Councilmen Tourte-lot, Klein, Nadal and Mayor Fay NOES: None ABSENT: Councilman Hesse PROPOSED ORDINANCE - WEED ABATEMENT Mr, Kinley, City Attorney, presented a copy of -the proposed\ ordinance to each councilman for their study. After discussion the Mayor ordered the matter held on the agenda° December 12,-1966 RUBBISH,CONTRACT - 1.967 The new rubbish disposal contract with -Hillside -Rubbish Co, for -the year 1967 was"presented.by-Mr'. Kinley. He stated that. -the contract. is substantially the same asthe existing contract. .The .insurance coverage had been,.enlarged, and the monthly charge will be.$7.75, payable quarterly ..in.advance. ADMINISTRATION .'BUILDING The.City.Manager announced that work isagain-under :way, after the recent storm. EIkSTFIELD- GATE Mr. Kinley reported that he.had-an.appointment with representatives from Trans America',towners of the property, and wouldreporton the results of the meeting at the next council meeting. MATTERS -FROM CITY -OFFICERS Mayor Fay-informed.the Council that -.Supervisor Chacelg-term as Chairman oftheBoard of -Supervisors had.expired. -A"letter�of commendation for his.two.year's -service- as Chairman. was directed to be - sent. ,tg__,Supervisor Chace over Mayor Fay's signature.
