A RESOLUTION O�' THE CITY COUNCII. OF 'TI� CITY OF ROLLING HILLS,
CAL�k'ORNIA,CONSENTIlVG TO THE INCLUSION OF PROPERTIES WITHIN�'HE
CITY'S JURISDICTION IN TI�EIVERGY UPGRADE CALIFORNIA PROGRA,M TO
PROMOTE ENERGY CONSERVATION, UTII..IZE ENERGY FROM AENEWABLE
RESOURCES,AND REDUCE GREENHOUSE GAS EMISSI�NS.
WHEREAS, the state is a nationai leader in energy conservation, embracing efforts from
residents which place Califomia on track to double energy efficiency, produce 33 gercent of its
energy from renewable resoutces,and r,educe greenhouse gas emissions by 46 percent before 2030-
goals as set foxth in Senate Bi11350,the Clean Energy and Pollution Reduction Act of 2015;and
WHEREAS, the state goals align with the City of Ralling Hill's own goals, including
sustainable growth,civic engagement,and quality of life for all residents;and
WHEREAS, the visibility of Californian state and loca!-level governments create a
responsibility to act as palicy leaders in the global arena, particulaurly in the wa�ce of U.S.
withdrawal from multilateral efforts toward the shared problem of environmental degradation and
climate change.
NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED THAT:
1. The �ity Council fi�nds artd declares that it supparts Energy Upgrade California, a
statewide initiative committed to empowering Californians to become energy stewards with the call
to "Do Your Thing." Each individual act�iion can result in a big impact not only fot the City of
Roiling Hills but also the state.
2. '�'he City Council urges all residents to become more conscio�s energy stewards—
recognizing that all Rolling Hills residents have the power to make a big difference by taking even
small actions.
3. This City Cowncil consents to include in the Energy Upgrade CaliFomia pmgzam of
all of the pmperties in the incorporated area witbin tbe City and to tbe Iznprovements, upon the
request by and voiuntary agreement of owners of such properties,in compliance with the laws,rules
and regulations applicable ta such program.
4. City staff is autharized and di�ected to facilitate operation of the Enetgy Upgrade
California program within the City,and report back periodically to this City Council on tYee success
of such program.
