3/10/1969MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ROLLING HILLS, CALIFORNIA March 10, 1969 A regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Rolling Hills was called to order by Mayor Nadal at the Administration Building 2 Portuguese Bend Road, Rolling Hills, California at 7:30 P.M. Monday, March 10, 1969. ROLL CALL PRESENT: Councilmen Fay, Hesse, Sauer, Mayor Nadal ABSENT: Councilman Klein, City Attorney Kinley ALSO PRESENT: Teena Clifton City Manager Marion. Welch City Treasurer June Cunningham Secretary Jenny Tufeld League of Women. Voters MINUTES Mayor Nadal ordered the minutes held on the agenda until the return of City Attorney William Kinleyo CORRESPONDENCE Telegram from Secretary, California Contract Cities Association Mayor Nadal advised the Council that he had been notified by telegram that the Board of Supervisors would conduct a final public hearing on Tuesday morning, March 11 on the compromise increase in contract costs for Sheriff's services. Mayor Nadal said that he would be unable to attend the hearing because of prior plans to attend a narcotics information session scheduled to be held by the City of Los Angeles. Los Angeles Regional Water Quality Control Board A notice of public hearing on Review of Beneficial Uses for Waters of Los Angeles Inner Harbor and Dominguez Channel scheduled for 10 a.m. April 10, 1969 was presented by the Manager. The notice was received and noted. Council on Intergovernmental Relations Copies of a report of the California Council on Intergovernmental Relations titled Alternative Fiscal Models for Tax and Revenue Sharing were presented to members of the Council. The report was received and filed. League of California Cities An announcement of the Mayors' and Councilmen's Legislative Institute to be held April 14-16, 1969 at the El Dorado Hotel, Sacra- mento was presented to the Councilmen. The City Manager advised that registration and hotel reservation forms are available at the City office for councilmen wishing to attend. PAYMENT OF BILLS Councilman Fay moved that Demands No. 1043 through 1056 be paid from the General Fund. 1 1 The City Manager advised the Council that the Rolling Hills Community Association would reimburse the City for $184.21, which sum makes up part of Demand #1049 on Association roads; balance represents Traffic Safety Expense. 1 March 10, 1969 DEMAND NO. Mayor Nadal said that applicants for the position are presently being interviewed. Regional Planning Commission Meetings at Library Mayor Nadal reported that he had attended an evening meeting conducted by the Regional Planning Commission at the Palos Verdes Penin- sula Library on Tuesday evening, March 4, 1969. The topic under dis- cussion at the meeting was a guidepost for zoning ixi approximately twenty undeveloped areas on the Peninsula. Mayor Nadal said that meetings will be held at the library on alternate Tuesday evenings, and that Councilman Fay would act as the City's representative. TIERS FROM CITY OFFICERS Change of Command - Lennox Sheriff's Station Mrs. Clifton advised the Council that former Captain.Luther Lanier of the Lennox Sheriff's Station has been promoted to the position of Inspector, and will serve in an area that includes the Lennox.Sheriff Station.. Capt. John E. Peacbck, formerly with the detective bureau, has been assigned command of the Lennox station. -2- March 10, 1969 A buffet dinner to honor Inspector Lanier has been scheduled for Thursday, March 13 at Alondra Club, Lawndale. Report of Storm Damage The Manager said she had been contacted on Friday afternoon, March 7th by the City of Los Angeles at the request of Lt. Governor Ed. Reinecke's office and requested to submit by March 10th an estimate of storm damage incorred on the private property in the City of Rolling Hills during the recent heavy rains. Mrs. Clifton explained that the total damage may not yet be known, and that telephone calls to several other cities indicate that it will not be possible for total damage to be reported at the present time.
