PEBSONAL_ APPEARANCES - FIRE DEP�RTMENT REPRESENTATNES � � Battalion Chief Hamlin of the Count9 Fire Department expressed his pleasure in attendin� the Council meeting, and introduced Captain Trefethen of Engine Company .56 who dis- cussed the da.ragers of less than four-inch water lines. Ma�or - , Goodman suggested that this size line might be made the minim�,un in the Association subdivision regulations. PERSONAL APPE;AR�NCE - MRS. C. 'W. BECK �lrs. Beck appeared before the Council to requ�s� that October 23 be proclaimed IInited States Day. She distribated 13terature and flag .stickers to the Councilmen and �ave a copy of a proposed proclamation to the Mayor. It was moved by Couricilman Tourtelot, seconded by Coixncilman E1lfott, and unanimously carried that �Vednesday, October 23, 1957 be designated IIni�ed States Day by proclamat'ion fn the form s�tbmitted. The Clerk re�ported that he had ret�xrn�d a cop� of the �eknowledgment ;og. the notif ieation to the Sheriff o � �ETTER - CHIEF' A�N[INISTRATNE OFFICER The City Clerk read a letter from Arthur �. tNill dated 3 September 1957 tellin� of the new procedure for use b�r the County in aceeptin� deeds or grants. It was suggested that the City of Rolling Hills adopt a similar resolution, and the Mayor agreed to study the matter. TRAFFIC ORDINANCE .REPORT Mr. Kinley reported that the proposed ordinance is being revised and will be ready for the;�:next meeting of the Traffic Commission. WFIEELER _..�_...`._ _ The City Clerk read a letter dated 11 October 1957 from Duane W. Wheeler regarding the forthcomin� municipal election to be held 8 Apri1 1958. After discussion it was moved by Councilman Elliott, seconded by Councilman Tourtelot, and unanimously carried that the City Clerk be authorized to contract with Duane �i. '�ftheeler and Company for ell necessar election materials and services at a cost not to exceed �300. WATER CORROSION Councilman Bullard reported that he is �till try�ng to contact the water and power eapert in Los Angeles and will ask him to appear at a Couneil mseting. QAT�HOUSE P80PERTIES ` Mr. Kinley reported that he had had no reply as yet . to a letter he had written Mr. 3treight regarding the . easement and bridle trail problems. After a discussion of the need for property appraisal, the City Clerk was instructed to invite Mr. George Fisher of Portuguese Bend to attend the next Council meeting. COD4MUNITY RECREATION AREA &Ir. Sinley reported: that while preparing the deed for the trar�sfer' of the Community Recreation Area proper�y from the �issociation to the City, he had consulted Mr. r"� � � Lindley King of the Title Insc�rance s�nd Trust Company �ho had told him that it would be necessary to obtain the con- sent of three-Fourthsof the owners oP all real property within 1500 feet in all dire�tions��f'rom the exterio� boundary line of the Communit� Area. Council'ma.n Weitzel su�gested that a sign be posted at the int�rsection of Crenshaw and Rolling Hills Road to � direct people to the Main Gate. The Gity Clerk was instructed ' to contact the County Road �epartment regarding this.
