An ad journed meeting of the City Council of the
Gity of Rolling Hi11s was held at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday,
29 October 1958, in the City Hall. ,
- The meeting was called to order at 7:30 p.m. by
Mayor Goodman.

and Mayor Goodman. .

On motion of Councilman Roach, secondad by Councilman
Nielsen and unanimously carried, the minutes of the
meeting held 14 October 1958 �Rere approved as written.
CORRESPONDENC�
The City Clerk read correspondence, as follows:
a. letter dated October 22, 1958 from the California
State Department of Public 'VVorks which stated
that the quarterly allocation of gas tax f unds
� to the City of Rolling Hills for the quarter
ended September 30, 1958 was �1,652.52, making
a total of�11,079.2�. now held at Sacramento.
,b. invitation from the �os Angeles County Board
of Supervisors to attend the dedication of
the Los Angeles County Courthouse at 10:30 a.m.
Friday, October 31, 1958.
c . letter from the Calif'ornia State Chamber of
Commerce announcing a State��vide Conference on
Proposed Highway Legislation before the 1959
Legislature to be held at the Statler-Hilton

. System which inforrned the City that its OASDI
coverage had been approved by the State ,and
gave instructions for preparing the necessary

_ Angeles County Fire Department regarding fire
insurance grading in the City of Rolling Hills
as it now is and suggestions for improvement .

�,ivingston of the County Assessor� s Office
giving the 1958 t� rate breakdovm. for resi- .
dents of the City of Rolling Hills. It was
suggested by the Nayor that a table be pre-
pared showing the assessment rates for last
year and this year and the amount by which
each figure had increased or decreased. The
Deputy City Clerk was instructed to prepare
this table.,

The City Pllanager presented the register� of bills to
be allowed. On motion of� Councilman Nielsen, seconded
by Councilman Roach and on roll call vote unanimously

Conference they had attended in Los Angeles on October 27
and 28.

Proposed Ordinance No. 22 entitled '�An Ordinance

Relating to the Installation, ,Arrang:ement, Alteration,

Fixtures and Other Electrical Appliances_ on Premiaes

moved that the reading �of' the ordinance in full be waived,
The motion was seconded by Councilman Tourtelot and unani-
mously carried, In accordance with the provisions of
Government Code Section 50022,39 a public hearing was
ordered held on the adoption of said ordinance on Monday,
November 21�, 1958 at 7:30 p.m. The City Clerk was directed_
to cause to be published a notice of the holding of said
hearing in accordance with the provisions of said Section
� 50022.3 in a newspaper of general circulation in the City
o.f Roll.ing Hills, for the time and in the manner prescribed
by Section 6066 of the Government Code of the State of
California.

PROPOSED SUBDTVISION ORDITIANCE

It was nioved by PQayor Goodman that the proposed
subidvision ordinance be tabled f'or two meetings. The
motion was seconded by Councilman Horn and unanimously
carried.
LICENSING OF BICYCLE5
The City Clerk reported that the Sheriffps Office
had requested that the City Council consider the matter
of nassing an ordinance requiring the licensing of
bicycles in the City of Rolling Hills. It was moved by �
NIayor. Goodman9 seconded by Councilman Nielsen and unani-
mously carried that the matter be tabled.
TR I PLE LANE G,ATE
� Councilman Tourtelot� reported th.at he had met twice
with representatives of' the Palos Verdes Properties
regarding the proposed triple lane gate and requested
additional timo to discuss the matter further vuith �
P�Ir, Ivar Hanson. The item was held for the next Council
meeting.� �

The City N�anager reported that he had studied the
draina�e problem at the Flanagan property at the end of
- �Nilliamsburg Lana with enoineers from �Narren Southvuest,
Inc. , the County Engineer o s Of f ice and PJIr. Tinsley of
the Juge F�gineering Company, He further stated that
he had received an estimate of �500 to �1,000 for the
installation of a pipe to divert water down to Palos
Verdes Drive North. �f'ter discussion the City �ittorney
was requested to write an opinion regarding the expendie -
ture of :In Lieu Fund moneys for� fi�iis purpose and also to
prepare the necessary papers for a grant of easement .

PROPOSED OR�TIdAI�TCE REGARDING AD�Q,UAT� WATER FOR FIRE
PROTECTION
P2ayor Goodman presented a proposed ordinance which
would prohibit the issuance of a building permit in any
area in the City lacking adequate water for fire pro�
tection purposes. After discussion the matter was held
over until the next meeting.
