3/27/1989WE MINUTES OF A REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL CITY OF ROLLING HILLS March 27, 1989 A regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Rolling Hills was called to order in the Council Chamber at the Administration Building/City Hall, 2 Portuguese Bend Road, Rolling Hills, California, by Mayor Murdock at 7:38 p.m., Monday, March 27, 1989. ROLL CALL PRESENT: Councilman Heinsheimer, Councilwoman Leeuwenburgh, Councilman Pernell, Councilwoman Swanson, Mayor Murdock ABSENT: ALSO PRESENT: None Terrence L. Belanger L. D. Los Angeles Times Resident Resident Resident PRESENTATION TO RETIRING ASSISTANT FIRE CHIEF BRUNSTROM Mayor Murdock presented Assistant Fire Chief Ray Brunstrom with a City plaque and a proclamation expressing the City's gratitude and appreciation for Chief Brunstrom's many years of dedicated service to the community. The Council wished Chief Brunstrom well in his retirement. CONSENT CALENDAR Councilwoman Swanson moved that the items on the Consent Calendar be approved and accepted as presented. Councilman Pernell seconded the motion, and it carried unanimously. APPROVAL OF MINUTES The minutes of a regular meeting of the City Council, held on March 13, 1989, were approved and accepted as written. PAYMENT OF BILLS Demands Nos. 3568 through 3570, and 3572 through 3590, in the amount of $31,896.87, were approved for payment from the General Fund. Demand No. 3571 was voided. FINANCIAL STATEMENT The Financial Statement for the month of February, 1989, was accepted as presented. OLD BUSINESS There were no matters of old business. NEW BUSINESS There were no matters of new business. u 2" B 0 PUBLIC HEARING - CONTINUED ZONING CASE NO. 374, STEPHEN TAUS, 7 OPEN BRAND ROAD The City Manager noted that the Council had before them a letter from the applicant's architect, Criss Gunderson, requesting that this matter be continued to the meeting on April 10. There being no objections, this matter was continued to the Council meeting on April 10. OPEN AGENDA Mayor Murdock invited comments from the audience on any topic not listed on the agenda. However, it was explained that the Council could not take action on any matter not specified on the agenda. Mr. Ron Warmbier, 86 Crest* Road East, addressed the Council regarding the proposed' development by Mr. and Mrs. Curtis Frame, at 00 62 Crest Road East, and distributed copies of a portion of the site r� development plan indicating various separation distances between the Lo proposed residence at 62 Crest Road East and the existing residence at 86 Crest Road East. CO MATTERS FROM MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL Q CALIFORNIA CONTRACT CITIES ASSOCIATION MEETING Mayor Murdock noted that the California Contract Cities Association meeting on April 19, 1989, will also be a farewell to the outgoing President, Rod Rodriguez. As Councilman Pernell is the delegate to this organization, he will attend the meeting. LEAGUE OF CALIFORNIA CITIES MEETING The League of California Cities meeting will be held on Thursday, April 6, 1989, and the Mayor indicated that she will attend. Councilwoman Swanson noted that she also will be at the meeting for the Transportation Committee. AIR FORCE - CIVIC LEADER TOUR The Department of the Air Force will be hosting a Civic Leader Tour, and will be inviting a group of approximately 35 civic leaders from Southern California to visit Peterson Air Force Base near Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Vandenberg Air Force Base near Lompoc, California, on June 14 and 15. If any Councilmembers are interested, they should contact the City Manager. DEDICATION OF FIRE COMMAND HEADQUARTERS On Friday, March 31, 1989, at 9:30 a.m., Edmund Edelman, Chairman of the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors, will officiate at the groundbreaking ceremonies for the Los Angeles County Fire Department Command and Control Emergency Dispatching Facility. PENINSULA COORDINATING COUNCIL TEEN SERVICE AWARD The Palos Verdes Peninsula Coordinating Council is requesting nominations of outstanding students for the Teen Service Award. The students nominated should have demonstrated outstanding service and leadership to the Palos Verdes Peninsula Community. If any Councilmembers know of a student to nominate, they should contact the City Manager. It was also suggested that Caballeros be contacted for input regarding possible nominees. - 2 - 282 INVITATION TO MEET CONGRESSMAN DANA ROHRABACHER The Palos Verdes Peninsula Chamber of Commerce will be sponsoring a lunch at the Red Onion, on Thursday, March 30, 1989, at 11:30 a.m., to meet Congressman Dana Rohrabacher. MATTERS FROM STAFF CALIFORNIA CONTRACT CITIES MUNICIPAL SEMINAR, The annual Municipal Seminar is scheduled for May 19 - 21, 1989, in Palm Springs, California. Any Councilmembers interested in attending should contact staff to make the necessary arrangements. FPPC. STATEMENTS OF ECONOMIC INTERESTS FORMS, Statements of Economic Interests, Form 721, must be filed by April 1, 1989. FENCE AT HESSE'S GAP RIDING RING, The City Manager reported that the installation of the new fence at the Hesse's Gap riding ring is nearly complete. CLOSED SESSION It was determined that a closed session was not required.
