SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL
CITY OF ROLLING HILLS, CALIFORNIA
July 2, 1990
A special meeting of the City Council of the City of Rolling
Hills was called to order by Mayor Heinsheimer at 8:00 a.m. Monday,
July 2, 1990 in the City Manager's Office, City Hall, 2 Portuguese
Bend Road, Rolling Hills, California.
ROLL CALL
PRESENT: Councilmembers Leeuwenburgh, Murdock, Pernell
Mayor Heinsheimer
ABSENT: Councilwoman Swanson (excused)
ALSO PRESENT: June Cunningham
RECOtlMENDATION OF THE PERSONNEL COt1MITTEE RE: INTERIM CITY MANAGER
Mayor Heinsheimer stated that the purpose of the special
meeting was to hear and consider the recommendation of the Personnel
Committee regarding hiring of an Interim City Manager.
Councilman Pernell reported that he and Councilwoman Swanson,
acting as a committee appointed by the tiayor, as well as the Council
as a whole, had interviewed a number of applicants for the position
of Interim City Manager. It was the Committee's recommendation
that the Council hire Mr. Dennis McDuffie, former Manager of the
City of Rancho Palos Verdes, for the position. Councilman Pernell
said that during a conference telephone call on Thursday, June
28, in which he, Councilwoman Swanson and Mr. McDuffie
participated, Mr. McDuffie indicated that he would be willing
to accept the position until September 1, 1990, or until a permanent
City Manager is hired, whichever date comes first.
Councilwoman Murdock moved that the City Council accept the
recommendation of the. Personnel Committee. The motion was seconded
by Councilwoman Leeuwenburgh.and carried.unanimously.
With the concurrence of members of the Council present, Mayor
Heinsheimer scheduled a brief reception on Monday, July 9 at 7:00
p.m. to introduce Mr. McDuffie to residents, and directed that
a letter of invitation be sent to each member of the Board of
Directors of the Rolling Hills Community Association.
ADJOURNMENT
The meeting was adjourned to the next regular meeting on
Monday, July 9, 1990 at 7:30 p.m.
